In case you missed the news yesterday, the Dallas Stars placed former 1st round draft pick Julius Honka on waivers effectively giving up on him and offering him up to the entire NHL for free.

Well... 24 hours later and it appears that no one is terribly interested in Honka. The 25 year old Finnish blueliner officially cleared waivers and will remain on the Stars' taxi squad.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have placed forward Brandon Pirri on waivers.

The 29 year old sniper has bounced around the NHL his entire career, but actually broke into the NHL with the Blackhawks 2010 after he was selected by the team in the 2nd round (59th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Since then the Toronto native has played for the Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knight in addition to his two stints with the Blackhawks. His most productive season came with the Panthers in 2014-15 when he put up a remarkable 22 goals and two assists. Talk about a sniper! This guy either scores or does nothin...

Still, there are plenty of teams around the NHL in desperate need of scoring. It'll be interesting to see if Pirri generates some interest on the waiver wire.
