Bettman confirms the Canadian Division won't return in 2021-22
NHL

Today, on the one year anniversary of the NHL announcing its "pause" for the 2019-20 season, league commissioner Gary Bettman met with the media via Zoom to take and answer questions about the state of the game and logistics for the upcoming offseason and 2021-22 season.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun asked Bettman specifically about divisional re-alignment for the 2021-22 season and... well Canadian hockey fans aren't going to like this. Bettman all but confirmed that the North Division will not return and that the league will revert to its "normal" divisions. There will be one change though with the Seattle Kraken joining the Pacific Division and the Arizona Coyotes moving over to the Central Division.

I've got to say, this is entirely expected but still disappointing. As any Canadian hockey fan will tell you the North Division has been wildly entertaining this year and I was hopeful that the league may consider keeping it in place moving forward.
