Barzal undresses the Penguins and scores the prettiest goal of the season

New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz sure does a fantastic job of hiding Mathew Barzal.

Barzal, the dynamic New York Islanders forward, dazzled this evening by undressing the Pittsburgh Penguins' defence and goaltender to score the nicest goal I've seen all season.

I mean... just behold:

It's moments like this when I see Barzal do something incredible and I'm reminded that this kid would be doing this kind of stuff every game if it weren't for the system he plays in. And don't take that as an indictment on Trotz and his coaching style. There's absolutely something to be said for defence-first hockey and Trotz's track record speaks for itself.

But... when I see Barzal do this kind of stuff, you have to wonder what sort of highlights he'd produce on a more offensively minded team.
