All-Canadian division could be named the Tim Hortons Division!

This has to be the greatest idea for an already bizarre season!

It is believed that the National Hockey League has put together a proposal for the division re-alignment for the upcoming 2021 season, with the obvious reservation being that thanks to the uncertainty of COVID-19 that it is subject to change.

From the start, the NHL has been set on creating an all-Canadian division : the realignment would likely be necessary because of travel restrictions between the United States and Canada aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19. An all-Canadian division would include the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets. The 24 U.S.-based teams will likely be separated into three divisions, with eight teams in each.

This is going to be all new and will need some adjustments from the fans, though TSN’s Ian Mendes asked them if they would be okay with companies sponsoring each division. More than 2,600 of fans who voted, more than 80% of fans said they would be fine with it.

That’s where he suggested that the all-Canadian division to be named the Tim Hortons division, and we get the feeling that fans voted the way they did because of his proposed name.

There have been talks of teams putting on ads and sponsorships on jerseys and helmets, but fans are adamant that it would ruin the look of the game and essentially make the players look like the boards.

However, Mendes’ suggestion does not affect actual jerseys or equipment and is quite original. And who could say no to an all-Canadian title for an all-Canadian division?!

So, what do you say Gary Bettman?
