And another team gets added to Alex Chiasson’s resume in the NHL.

On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks signed the right winger to a one-year contract worth $750,000.

Chiasson had joined the Canucks on a professional tryout in September and had two assists in four pre-season games. He managed to impress the deal and get a crack at the roster for the 2021-22 season.

“Alex is an established veteran who plays a physical game and brings a valuable net-front presence to our team, particularly on the power play,” Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement. “He’s a bigger player that doesn’t shy away from the tough areas of the ice and has fit in well with the rest of our forward group so far.”

This is team number 6 for Chiasson, who spent the previous three years with the Edmonton Oilers and had nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 45 regular season games during the 2020-21 campaign.

Selected in the second round by Dallas in 2009, Chiasson has moved around the NHL, recording 101 goals and 101 assists in 564 games over nine seasons with the Stars, Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and Oilers. He won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.

The Canucks kick off the 2021-22 regular season against the Oilers tomorrow night.
