The Philadelphia Flyers head coach has broken his silence.

Two days after being the target of some extremely serious accusations made by Las Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner, Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault has finally had his chance to share his side of the story.

I thought it was very telling that Vigneault appeared to be in no hurry to respond to Lehner's explosive allegations and the demeanor of the Flyers bench boss when speaking to the media on Monday may have shown us why. Vigneault, despite being the target of the kind of career threatening allegations that could carry with them very serious legal implications as well, appeared to be as cool as a cucumber when fielding questions from reporters.

Vigneault was asked point blank about the things that Lehner had said and he seemed perfectly content to laugh the whole thing off. Vigneault joked that he disagreed with the characterization of himself as a "dinosaur," suggesting instead that he should be considered "experienced." While Vigneault did take the time to make a few jokes he also addressed the concerns that both fans and the media have currently by categorically denying all of the allegations made by Lehner, with perhaps the exception of the dinosaur comment.

Vigneault stated unequivocally that he did not need an extra source of income by "pushing pills" onto his players. Here he is in his own words:

Saying that he doesn't know Lehner and that he isn't guilty of the accusations made against him is one thing, but Vigneault even went a step further. The veteran head coach balked at the notion that any head coach around the league would engage in this behavior, stating flatly that "this is the National Hockey League... not Slap Shot."

As for his personal feelings on the matter? Vigneault did not go into great detail but if he is indeed innocent of these accusations, you can imagine the man is likely boiling on the inside. Regardless of that he would only say that he was "very disappointed" in Lehner, again a young man that Vigneault claims he simply does not know.

Once again here is the Philadelphia Flyers head coach in his own words:

Only time will tell who is speaking the truth on this matter.
