At the trade deadline, Adam Gaudette was traded by the Canucks and ended with the Chicago Blackhawks, unable to play for his new team as he was still caught in COVID Protocols after he was part of the huge outbreak that happened in Vancouver.

Finally on Thursday, he was back in action. Reporters wanted to know more about what caused him to get shipped by the Canucks, especially after it was reported that Gaudette was the reason what the outbreak took place in Vancouver. It has been speculated that Gaudette went to a restaurant, which is prohibited by the league during the shortened season, and contracted the virus and then spread it in the dressing room.

Gaudette admitted that he and his wife were targeted on social media and reacted to speculation that the Canucks traded him for being “patient zero” of the COVID outbreak in Vancouver.

Here is what he had to say:

“Don’t believe everything you read on Twitter. There’s a lot of bullshit going around. A lot of disrespectful things said about me and my wife that are just not true.”

His wife Micaela was also diagnosed with COVID, but maintains she has no clue where and when they might have contracted it.

Gaudette scored his first goal with the Blackhawks last night in an overtime loss to the Florida Panthers. The 24-year-old forward has nine points, 62 shots on net and a minus-12 rating through 35 appearances overall after he spent most of the campaign in the Canucks’ bottom six.

He might have been fuelled by all the negative speculations coming out of Vancouver at the moment and clearly, he felt the need to speak about it on Friday.
