The end of the 2021 season is a tough one as a few teams are left to play the last games of the calendar without key players.

The only good news here is that these teams will not be competing in the postseason as they were unable to clinch a playoff spot in this shortened season.

Still, in the past week and especially on Tuesday, it was announced that nine players are done for the year due to injuries.

It all started with the news that the New York Rangers will not only be without defensemen Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren, but also without star forward Artemi Panarin, who is also done for 2021.

He was injured, as you may have heard by now, in the Tom Wilson incident that took place on Monday and resulted in the Washington Capitals’ forward only getting a $5,000 for punching Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was facedown on the ice, while also throwing Panarin to the ice in the ensuing scrum.

Then, the Buffalo Sabres announced that goaltenders Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Carter Hutton, and Dustin Tokarski will all remain unavailable for the final three games of the season.

As for the Ottawa Senators, it sounds like they will compete the last contests of the calendar without Thomas Chabot and Josh Brown.

This all comes after, last week, the Detroit Red Wings announced that captain Dylan Larkin was done for the year with an upper-body injury.

Another good player on the shelf until the new season…

And we bet these four teams cannot wait for 2021-22 to get going in October!
