There has been a lot of action on the waiver wire in the past few days, and things started to settle down on Wednesday as the 2021 season opening is just hours away.

On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers placed one players on waivers; the Panthers placed two.

Here is the full list:

Par Lindholm (Bos)
Devin Shore (Edm)
Rodrigo Abols (Fla)
Kevin Connauton (Fla)
Dmytro Timashov (NYI)
Criotoval Nieves (TB)
Craig Anderson (Wash)

The Oilers signed forward Devin Shore to a one-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $700,000. Then then placed him on waivers. The Capitals did the same thing with Anderson, signing the free agent goaltender to a one-year contract for $700,000. He was placed on waivers moments ago and should he clear waivers at noon on Thursday. He is expected to join the team's taxi squad.

Players who cleared waivers can remain on the NHL roster, be placed on the taxi squad or sent to the American Hockey League, which is scheduled to begin its season Feb. 5.

A taxi squad will have 4-6 players to help address roster issues caused by coronavirus issues. They will travel and practice with NHL teams during the season but be treated as minor league players under the NHL salary cap ($81.5 million). Players who require waivers to be assigned to the AHL must clear to become part of the taxi squad. Those claimed can’t be immediately assigned to the taxi squad of the team that made the successful claim.
