The Toronto Maple Leafs put an end to their losing streak on Thursday night with a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets, however, veteran forward Joe Thornton loses here too.

The NHL Department of Player Safety has just announced that Thornton has been fined $3,017.24, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Interference on Winnipeg’s Mathieu Perreault.

On Thursday, Thornton caught Perreault high, sending the Jets’ forward straight to the dressing room for a trip to the quiet room.

Thornton was handed a minor penalty for interference and now will have to pay some more.

Several fans expected the veteran Leafs forward to be suspended for the hit, but his wallet is the only one to suffer - barely.

Here is the questionable hit. You be the referee, what’s the call here?
